What if I told you that you could have more energy, clearer skin, and lose weight, all at the same time? It sounds too good to be true right?
Last year, I was going through major changes in my life, and I just did not feel like myself even when I would workout. Therefore, I started researching what I could do to feel better and I came across the “keto.”
(Laughing) let me guess what you are thinking, great, and another diet trend. Exactly my thoughts, until I tried it! I would like to share my “keto” journey with you.
First, the “keto diet,” also known as the “ketogenic diet,” is a lifestyle change that consists of low carbs. Everybody does it their own way, (hence all the diet names and programs) but the most basic “keto diet” is a mix of low carb, paleo and gluten-free.
After my research, I took to Pinterest, a girl’s best friend, to look for recipes. I was surprised to see how easy and economical these recipes were to make. Being busy, my life is all about convenience, and if I can make these meals for cheap, even better! The best thing about “keto” is that you can eat all meats and cheeses. The downsides I found to this diet, the only fruits you can to eat, are berries and there are only certain vegetables you are allowed to eat.
I gave “keto” a solid two weeks, and meal prepped every Sunday. These meal preps included a lunch and dinner every day, and I fasted for breakfast. Meal prepping really helped me since the meals were readily available I could just pop it in the oven or microwave. For these two weeks, I drank a gallon of water every day. After the two weeks, I lost 7 pounds and my doctor explained that those pounds were just water weight. Mind blown! I noticed after the first week, how much more energy I had and how much better my skin was looking.
My “keto” journey has been amazing. Many people make “keto” a lifestyle, however I enjoy a beer here and there, as well a candy bar, so full disclosure, I have my cheat days!
